German Coconut Canteen
An exceptional and unique find and functional piece of history! These Genuine WWII German 'Coconut' Canteens make a great gift for collectors and an excellent display for home, office, or museum, as well as a treat for re-enactors. Designed by Heinrich Ritter, they were called 'Coconut' canteens because of the resemblance of the pressed wood bodies encasing the aluminum canteen to a coconut. Though the unusual canteens were designed for troops in North Africa, they were used in other theaters throughout the war. These rare original 0.7 liter canteens measure 7"L x 2½"W x 9¼"H and, despite having been issued, are in great shape for their age!
